There is some great diving right in our own backyard of New England. We dive several sites in Connecticut, but once you move out of long island sound towards Rhode Island or Massachusetts the visibility gets clearer and the drive isn’t that far. We utilize a variety of open water locations from oceans, to lakes and quarries. New England Dive also hosts group social events throughout the summer. These events are to acquaint divers with the site if it is their first time there, and for local divers to meet one another and make future dive buddies friends. Don’t have a buddy? Come anyway we will help pair you up with one.
A few of these dive sites are:
- Fort Wetherill
- Fort Getty
- Cape Ann
- Dutch Springs
- Brownstone
- Stonington
- Beavertail
- King’s Beach
Long Island Sound is littered with sunken vessels of all types. Local dive charters run throughout the summer to let divers admire these beauties in their final resting place. We do not run our own boat. Instead we support the local captains in-state and out-of-state. Charter dates and destinations are always being added to our aggressive summer events schedule. Please check our calendar page for future events. These dive charters will range in depths from 20-120 ft. Deeper dives will require the correct certification.
If you’d like to see all that the area has to offer we recommend books for the New England dive enthusiast both available at our shop.
- The Last Battle of the Atlantic: The Sinking of the U-853 by Captain Bill Palmer ($30.00)
- Shore Diving Guide to New England by Jerry Shine ($24.95)
- Shipwrecks of Connecticut and Rhode Island by Gary Gentile ($19.95)
