Step 3 – Go Diving!

Open Water Checkout Dives are the final step to complete the required number of open-water training dives under the supervision of your Instructor. Here you will apply what you have learned during your academic and skill-development sessions, while learning practical lessons that can only be gained through real-world experience in open water.




Includes: Instruction, Rental Equipment, Thermal Protection, Registration with the training agency, Printed C-Card.

Location: TBD (Shore Dive)

Time: Typically meet at 8:00am- 1:00pm


These dives are for an Open Water Certification students who need to complete their training.

Open Water (OW) Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 dives
  • Completed over a span of at least 2 days.

*These requirements are standard by the scuba industry*


NED offers OW weekends about twice a month from May/June – October/November. (Weather Dependent).

Upon successful completion of this training portion, you will have earned an Open Water Scuba Diver certification card, or C-card. This certification enables you to dive anywhere in the world, for the rest of your life.
