(Last Updated: 03AUG21) *New posts containing additional informative content will appear first in this section*

For current updates and information on COVID-19 visit: www.bonairecrisis.com

At check-in, boarding and arrival, travelers must present the printed health declaration, the result of a coronavirus test and/or a vaccination certificate.

All travelers must complete a Public Health Department health declaration form online between 72 hours and 48 hours before departure. This declaration can be downloaded at: https://www.bonairepublichealth.org

Current Covid Policies for Entering Bonaire:

A Negative  PCR test within 48 hours of travel.

Current Covid Policies While in Bonaire:

Additional test for American travelers, exception for short stays

https://www.bonairecrisis.com/additional-test-for-american-travelers-exception-for-short-stays/

Kralendijk  – From Wednesday, 1 September, 2021, all American tourists must undergo a free antigen test at the Public Health Department (PG) on day 5 after their arrival. The reason for this is the fact that -from that date on- the United States has been designated a high-risk country for Bonaire. An appointment will be made for this test upon arrival at Bonaire airport. An exception will  apply to travelers on a short stay.

US travelers who are on Bonaire for  a seven-day stay should theoretically undergo the antigen test at PG five days after their arrival and a test with a commercial company for their return trip. However, these travelers  will not have to undergo an antigen test at PG on the fifth day of their stay. They will be allowed to undergo only the test for their return trip at a commercial company, as long as that result is sent to PG.

The exception applies to US travelers who need to undergo a test for their return trip on day 4, day 5, or day 6 of their stay. These travelers do not have to undergo the antigen test at PG, but must have their return-journey test result sent to PG. All travelers must arrange the test for their return with a commercial company and pay for it themselves.

How to get a PCR test Prior to Travel:

  • Many have reported getting a test at a YALE testing location seems to have the fasted turn around to obtain results.
  • It is rumored this is because their testing is completed  in house and not mailed out.
  • Use this Link to find a YALE COVID TESTING STATION near you.
  • When asked for the reason for test, the answer “Covid Test” seems to be the correct answer.
  • You will need a YALE MYCHART ACCOUNT to obtain results. A paper copy MUST be carried with you while traveling.
  • Results are NOT guaranteed within the 48 hour requirment period. However it states results are typically available 24-48hrs.
  • Making a back-up 2nd test at an additional company that does testing may be a good option to ensure you have the documentation you need for travel, however you may get billed by your insurance company if you have more than 1 test within a 2-week period.

Covid Testing Options:

  • YALE- COVID -19 Testing Sites OFFER:

    • Reliable PCR tests
    • Same day, and next day appointments
    • Results typically available in 24-48 hours
    • Convenient self-scheduling
    • Many sites are open seven days

Current Restrictions Returning to the USA from Bonaire:

Use this link to learn more about return testing requirements.

Effective January 26, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will require all air passengers entering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days. Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recovery for all passengers two years of age and over prior to boarding. Airlines must deny boarding of passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery.

Please see CDC’s FAQ for answers to questions about the new requirement for proof of negative COVID-19 test or recovery from COVID-19 for all air passengers arriving in the United States.

It is to our understanding, that the hotel will help arrange this test (possibly at the hotel) on the 5th day for the group.

International Travel Information:

  • Health Precautions: Read Your Health Abroad and check out recommendations for vaccinations and other health considerations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO)
  • Money Matters: Before going abroad, notify your bank and credit card companies of your travel, and check exchange rates. For information about using cash, debit/credit cards, and ATMs overseas, read information about your destination.
  • Safeguard Your Documents! Make two copies of all your travel documents in case of emergency. Leave one copy with a trusted friend or relative at home and carry the other separately from your original documents. To help prevent theft, do not carry your passport in your back pocket, and keep it separate from your money.

    • Passport: Apply several months in advance for a new passport. If you already have one, it should be valid for at least six months after you return home and have two or more blank pages, depending on your destination. Otherwise, some countries may not let you enter.
      • Children’s passports: Passports issued for children under age 16 are valid for only five years, not 10 years like adult passports. Check passport expiration dates carefully and renew early.
      • Europe Travel via Canada and UK: Europe’s 26 Schengen countries strictly enforce the six-month validity rule. If you are transiting through Canada or the UK : which do not have that requirement : your passport must be valid at least six months, or airlines may not let you board your onward flight to Europe.
    • Medications: Some prescription drugs, including narcotics and some U.S. over-the-counter medications, are illegal in other countries. Check with the embassy of your destination(s) about regulations and documentation before you travel

Travel Insurance:

(Last Updated: 03AUG21) *New posts containing additional informative content will appear first in this section*

Travel Insurance is not included in your package. If you would like to purchase Travel and/or Dive Accident insurance this would be done independently. You are not required to purchase these insurances, however they have proven to be useful in situations. Without them there are many situations in which your guide will not be able to assist you if you do not have insurance.

Refunds will not be issued for cancellation unless the space can be sold for full price to another traveler. If you would like to purchase Trip insurance independently you can get a quote using the link below to a company called TravelSafe, or use the company of your choosing.
