ADVANCED CERTIFICATION

Below is a schedule of a new plan we have to promote more advanced certification. Advanced Certifications also sometimes referred to as Specialties are essential to making a better diver in the water. It lets you advance your knowledge in specific areas of diving that you'd find most beneficial . This is great if your lacking that confidence on some dives or you simply just want to work towards perfection in the water. The requirements for advanced is 4 specialties and 25 logged dives. Majority of people start their advanced courses before they hit 25 and their open waters required for each cert usually boost them up to that number. Remember your open water alone counted as 5 dives.

We at New England Dive Center want our divers that come in the store to be top notch while in the water so we're setting up an extensive advanced program that will run constantly from now on. We've been teaching a lot through SDI and its working out really well. Their specialty books combine different courses and makes the information flow really well. Each book covers an average of 2 specialties and we'll be covering one book a night. Therefore to complete your advanced you'll have to complete 2 different nights for a total of 4 specialties from the list below. I've specified which specialties we'll cover each time. Bear in mind that you don't have to complete all 4 specialties all at once. You could split them up and still earn something before you complete your advanced. With 1, 2 , 3 specialties you will have the honor of a "specialty diver." If these dates or course ideas don't interest you any other course or dates can be set up through the shop also we are not limiting ourselves but just specializing ourselves in these courses. The courses are interesting in fun we invite you all to join in on perfecting our skills with us and we're sure you won't be disappointed.

Advanced Diver Development Program
The SDI Advanced Diver Development Program was created to make truly “Advanced Divers”.  Under the old way of training a student could take an Advanced Course right after an Open Water course and only have a total of 9 dives all under the direct training of an instructor. The SDI Advanced Diver Development program requires a new Open Water student to take 4 SDI specialties or equivalent, along with having a total of 25 dives.  SDI feels a diver will truly be “Advanced” after this is accomplished.
