WANT TO LEARN
TO SCUBA DIVE?

Open Water Scuba Diver Course
The Open Water Scuba Diver course is an entry-level certification course designed to give students the necessary skills to safely conduct open water dives in conditions similar to their training without the direct supervision of an instructor. The course covers all the basic knowledge about equipment, physiology and the marine environment while training students to perform basic skills underwater.

GETTING STARTED!

Learn to scuba dive under the direct supervision of our professional staff of divers.  You will receive a world recognized certification card at the end of your course.   The card is good for life and not necessary to renew.  The course is easy and fun and is for ages 10+.  Join one of the fastest growing sports and dive right in!!

How do I get started?

To become a certified diver you must first do your open water certification course.  The course is approximately 3 weeks long and consists of 4-6 class/pool nights and 4-5 open water dives.  The class meets twice a week for the classroom and will do the open water over the course of a weekend in the summer or on vacation in the islands.

Cost

$249.95

What do I need?

New England Dive Center will provide all the major gear for the pool.  We will require you to purchase your own "personal gear" meaning Mask, Fins, Snorkel, and boots and Student Course materials packet.  This gear's proper fit is essential for comfort while diving, which is why you need your own.  Build your own student package at the shop, which you'll get to choose from a wide variety of brands and styles.   During your pool classes we will provide even trade on any product that you wish to upgrade or exchange.  Remember your going to be using this gear for the rest of your life and you want to make sure its good in action.  If you already own your snorkeling equipment you will still have to buy the Student course materials packet for $100.

Avg Pkg = $199.95

To Finalize your open water course you must complete your open water dives.  Open water consists of 4 dives done over 2 days.  We perform those around here on weekends to make this scheduling easier.  We generally use Brownstone quarry, Stonington point or Fort Wetherill State Park, RI.  All divers looking to complete their course must show up self sufficient with all gear they may need to the dive site.  Packages for purchasing this gear start at only $850 or you can simply rent the equipment from our quality rental department.  Open water weekend fee is $150 including rentals.  If you purchase a life support package from us you'll receive a $100 credit off this fee.

If an island vacation awaits you can do your open water dives there, but you must request a referral form from your instructor.  He will sign off saying you've completed your class and pool and any instructor around the world can finalize your open water dives.  $35 fee applies for referral
